Tunji Fasimoye, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Rugby Football
Federation is excited over the selection of a mix of a foreign based and eleven
home grown players of the technical crew of the Black Stallions for the Africa
Rugby Sevens scheduled for Zimbabwe later this month.
Speaking in a chat with National DailySports, an elated Fasimoye was
confident that the players that were selected from the just concluded
Independence Sevens tournament can give adequate representation to the country
and an indication of the abundance of talent in the country.
Reacting to the invitation of two youngsters; Kelechi Anozie (Hawkster
Athletics RFC) and Monday Alex (Racing RFC), Fasimoye noted “What we have
decided to do now is incorporate some young players into the camp to enable
them learn from the older lads so that we can groom them for the future.”
Fashimoye distanced the federation from rumors that Bandele Coker has
been sacked as the Technical Adviser of the Black Stallions, clasiming that the
need for an advance game pattern necessitated the engagement of Fabian Juries
for the team.
"We are bringing Juries in
from South Africa to impact his experience and skills into the lads, we need someone
with a high technical, tactical and deep knowledge of rugby 7s," he told
National DailySports.
In a similar vein, Black Stallions captain, Azeez Ladipo has praised the
technical crew for their foresight in building for the future.
