ARSENAL ARE ON A GOOD RUN
Arsenal’s Premier League form this season, with the race for Champions League qualification intensifying, Arsenal currently occupy third place in the Premier League, four points behind Manchester City but just one ahead of rivals Manchester United.
Although Arsenal’s form has been somewhat sporadic this season, the Gunners are on a good run having won their last four Premier League fixtures – a trend which Lawrenson believes will continue courtesy of a 2-0 win.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are all providing a threat to the Gunners’ and United’s spot inside the Premier League’s top four, while West Ham – who were certainly in the conversation around Christmas – have fallen down to 10th.
Welbeck came back to haunt his former side United, scoring his eighth goal in all competitions this term
“West Ham’s bad run continues – since Christmas they have won only one out of 11 league games. They were the better team when they played Chelsea last time out, but still lost,” the 57-year-old former Liverpool defender said.
“I am sure Hammers boss Sam Allardyce will make it difficult for Arsenal too, but probably with the same outcome.
“The Gunners got a great win at Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday, which was thoroughly deserved.
“Arsene Wenger’s said that side win the majority of their games but then occasionally have a hiccup – I don’t see any hiccup happening here.”
