As the 2015 Lagos FA Cup, in collaboration efforts with
Winners Golden Bet,kick off last Sunday at the Agege Stadium, Agege with matches among
rookie teams.
New entrant, Freetan Sports football club will play
another new comer, Odic Wire & Cable football club in the first match of
the day at 8:00am.
Dominion Hotsports football club will slug it out with
Ascenders FC for the ticket to the round of 32 in the second of the day by
9:30am.
It will be the turn of Moses Olusegun football club and
Goodland Rangers in the third match of the expected to kick off at 1:30pm,
while the last tie will be the battle between Gbagada FC and Eko Akete FC at
3:30pm.
According to Dotun Coker, chairman of the Technical
committee of Lagos FA, all matches for this year’s edition of the Winners
Golden Bet sponsored Lagos FA Cup will hold at the ultra-modern Agege Stadium.
He informed that lots of new innovations are been package
for this year’s edition of the FA Cup, revealing that as stated by the chairman
of the Lagos State FA, Seyi Akinwunmi all winners of the round of rookies will
get a cash reward of 15,000 Naira each, courtesy of the FA Chairman among other
packages ahead of the finals.
Coker charged all the clubs taking part in this year’s
championship to maintain high level of discipline, saying the FA will not
condone any act that will bring the game into disrepute.
He said: “We at Lagos FA has done our home work well by
ensuring that all the clubs taking part in this Lagos FA Cup are abreast of the
rules governing the competition, hence the seminar organized by the FA on the
FA Cup for the clubs taking part in this year’s edition, So they should try and
follow the regulations governing the championship.”
When Goodland Rangers FC ambled into the pitch at the Lagos FA Cup preliminary round on Sunday, ex-Super Falcons midfielder, Ajuma Otache caught the attention of the spectators at the Agege Stadium, some fans concluded before the match started that Moses Olusegun FC will run over Goodland Rangers.
But the former Super Falcons midfielder, Ajuma Otache who was at the Olympics in Athens stood for the better part of the match dishing out instructions occasionally to her boys and at the end of the match, Goodland Rangers won by 2-1.
The ever lively midfielder Ajuma Otache who was at the African Women's Championship in 2004 told National dailysports told after the match that she was optimistic of a victory.
Mrs Ottache said after so much hard work, we came into today's match with a positive mindset to scale through this stage to the next round and in the end it's good we achieved our target.
Asisat Oshoola manager whose team, Goodland Rangers debutant in the Lagos FA Cup uttered confidence that her team's target is to go far in this tournament but emphasized that it's important they take each match at a time.
The mother of three said that she believe so much in this team, I believe the experience and exposure that they've gotten today will go along way as we hope to go far in this tournament. We want to take each match as they come and hope that we shall get the needed result. As much as we'd love to play in the final it's important that we take a step at a time.
She concluded that her qualified to the round of 32 after a 2-1 Victory over Moses Olusegun FC and will play against Tranzeet FC on Sunday, March 15 2015 at the Agege Stadium, Lagos and they pray that the team get to final and was grateful to God for the victory. It was exciting and a good way to start our FA cup campaign. We have a bunch of talented and committed players? Who are willing to learn? The team unity gives me confidence in the players. I believe in their God giving ability and uniqueness.To get to the finals we will take each game as they come and trust God to win each game. The sky is our beginning. Our fans should come out and support us in our next game at Agege and we promise to be at our very best.
