Africa can win World Cup soon – Fox Sports
The Executive Vice President, FOX Sports, Europe and Africa, Frank Rutten, has said the target of the organisation was to see an African country winning the FIFA World Cup in the nearest future.
Speaking with New Telegraph in Darkar, Senegal, Rutten said FOX Sports signed a long term partnership with the West African Football Union Zone A and B so as to help develop budding talents that would become world stars from the region.
“What we are hoping to do is to bring competitions to the region, there will be opportunities for these players to showcase their talents and be become better,” he said.
“We believe if an African country must win the FIFA World Cup, it must be from this region because there are so many talented players coming from countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal.
“All what these players need are high quality matches to become better and better all the time, so in the end we will make sure there is consistent level of quality players, coming from the region.
“The more quality matches a player plays the better he becomes. There are lot of talents and we need to discover more from the region.”
Adam Theiler, the Executive Vice President, FOX Networks Group Europe and Africa, added that when people look at West African football in the next five years; there will be a lot of development that will include infrastructure, the youth leagues across the region and development among the young men and women.
