The secretariat of Nationwide League One NLO has commiserated with Delta Football Association over the death of Timi Ebikagboro, a board member of the State F.A and a veteran sports journalist, who passed on at the early hours of Friday.
The Chief Operating Officer of NLO , Shola Ogunnowo said that the news of the death of the ace broadcaster came to the secretariat as a rude shock and the stakeholders at the cradle of football in Nigeria pray to God to give his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“ We were shocked and deeply saddened with the untimely death of Timi Ebikagboro, a passionate football stakeholder in Delta state and in Nigeria as a whole. We just want to pray that God Almighty in his infinite mercies will give his wife, children , loved ones and Delta F.A the fortitude to bear this loss, strenghten and comfort everyone that is terribly sad with his sudden demise,” Ogunnowo said.
Ebikagboro was the Media Officer of the Dream Team Olympic Eagles tutored by Samson Siasia that won the bronze medal at the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
He was an only child of his mother and he is survived by a wife, three young sons, and aged parents. He was 47 years at the time of his death.
Delta NUJ Mourns Timi Ebikagboro, Commiserates With Family
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, wishes to express her deepest pain over the sudden death of one of its members, Comrade Timi Ebikagboro. The Council views Timi Ebikagboro’s demise as colossal loss and truly unfortunate.
Timi Ebikagboro was a great Unionist who demonstrated excellent sense of loyalty in good and bad times. His active participation in the Union’s activities and promoting the ideals of the journalism profession will forever remain fresh in our memory.
He was a fine and dependable journalist who carved a niche for himself in uplifting journalism practice and sacrificed so much for the profession even at the expense of his convenience and resources. Indeed, Timi Ebikagboro’s glowing attributes are virtues that call for emulation by all journalist.
Our hearts go to the immediate family for the Lord God Almighty to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. The Council will pay a condolence visit any time from now and will participate fully in the burial arrangements.
Late Timi Ebikagboro, headed the Sports Desk, DBS Warri TV and Radio and was a former Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Delta State Chapter. He was at different time Media Officer to Warri Wolves and the National Under-23 Dream Team.
Until his death, he was a member of the Delta Football Association and Special Assistant, Media to the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick.
The council has declared a two-day mourning in respect of Late Timi Ebikagboro between Tuesday 3rd-4th October, 2017. Members are to put on black cloths as a mark of honour our departed colleague.
