Restoration Cup:NTA bow out after Marathon penalty shoot-out

Nigeria Television Authority, (NTA), recently were shown the exit door of the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament after losing in a dramatic penalty shout-out,National Daily learnt.

The media boys proved that they are not just information seekers and broadcasters but also good in the round leather game, as they played out a goalless draw with Famgbe Community at the BDGS centre in Yenagoa.

During the shoot out, both teams showed resilience, scoring 19 spot kicks. But it was Famgbe that had the last laugh after NTA lost their 20th spot kick, losing 19-20 to Famgbe community.

Also, at the BDGS centre, Agbura Community lost 4-2 on penalties to Akenfa Community in the second match after it ended two apiece at regulation time.

Two matches were played at the Tombia center with Yenagoa community progressing to the next round after beating Biogbolo community 5-4 on penalty. The game  also ended two goals apiece.

Yenizue-gene  beat Ovom 4-2 on penalties after a one all draw at regulation time in the second game.

The Okordia-Zarama centre also came live with two exciting matches. Kpansia community progressed to the next round beating Nedugo-Agbia by a lone goal, while Tein Community saw off Zarama by the same scoreline.

At the Brass Centre, Buo-ama Community defeated Mini-Amgba Community by two goals.

Ewoama FC crash out at Restoration Cup as competition records second, third hat -trick

Winners of the first edition of the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament, Ewoama Community of Brass, were on Sunday, thrown out of the competition, as they lost three goals to nil to Okpoma community at the Brass center.

Kalawei-ama Community in the Southern Ijaw Council Area, progressed to the next round with a two-one victory over Koluama community.

Pere Isaac of Kalawei-ama drew first blood, after tapping from close range in the 21st minute, then skipper, Tonbra Ikeinga doubled the lead through a beautiful free kick from 20 yards, in the 51st minute of the first match played at the Amassoma Center. 

Koluama later came to the party deep into the second half, and their pressure paid of, with Wilson Wee connecting a sublime pass from the right flank to score in the 74th minute, then pressed on for an equaliser, which didn't come their way.

In the second match of the day, Ebimobowei Nicodemus of Olugbobiri community, nodded in from a corner in the 33rd minute to give his team the lead against Foropa community, but the latter came back into the second half and got the equaliser through Tony Henry in the 69th minute, to take the game to penalties, which they eventually won 7-6.

At the Ekeremor Center, a lone goal from Saro Loveday of Peretorugbene community was all that was needed to see off Opukushi community in the first game, while the second match needed a shoot out to separate the two sides, and Ekeremor lost 3-1 on penalties to Pinakiri after playing goalless at regulation time.

The Odi center witnessed just one game, where Ayakoro-ama humbled Ofonibiri, beating them five goals to nil, with Ayakoro-ama striker, Isaac Alarry, netting the second hat-trick of the competition, while at the Opokuma center, Sabagreia lost two nil to Odi in the first game, with Alaowei and Charles Tonyo scoring in each half, then Sampou won four-two on penalties, after playing one all in the second game.

At the Azuzuama center, Emo James scored thrice to record the third hat-trick of the competition as Ebikiriama/Azuzuama 2, defeated Ondewari by five unreplied goals, while a 34th minute strike by Perekere Ikiri, and Babayo Thomas's effort in the 70th minute completed the rout.

Otuan community progressed to the next round without kicking a ball at the Oporoma center, as they walked over Niger Delta University, Amassoma, one of the tertiary institutions participating in the tournament.
