TIME TO PUT ON OUR THINKING CAP AND SAY THE TRUTH

The words of the elders are always the words of wisdom. I remember vividly when I approached my late father years ago, telling him that I have made up my mind to jettison the course I read in the University (Library and Information Science) to take to journalism, the man took a deep look at me and said "Odogwu, you have now decided to turn your self to cock?" I responded sharply, "cock how?". The old man said "don't you know that the journalists are the 'cock' we have in the society. When the community is good, it's the cock that would be sent to inform the people, but when the community is bad, it's the same cock that will be used for sacrifice to appease the gods". I hv never given a thought to that statement until recently, when I started seeing the unfolding events in our football circle. I saw a set of people that never wanted a solution to this four years ritual. I hv seen journalists now turned  themselves to the proverbial Cock, and are regularly sacrificed after the ritual. But, It became more annoying that those who are agitating for one side or the other has never proffer lasting solutions to the embarrassing situation. Those accusing Dalung of being the cause of the problem, may be protecting their daily bread. As they have refused to have a trace back to history. The reason why the book of Chronicles exists in the Bible is to enable the younger generations know what happened in the past, to ensure they guide their steps. Those of us who were around at the Glasshouse the day Kojo Williams was impeached,   will remember his actions. Immediately he came down from the conference room holding his black suit, he took a second look at that glass building, shook his head, entered his vehicle, and there begins the problem.  It is now a four year ritual. Galadima went through such, Lulu was not spared, Maigari was bundled out, now it's the turn of Pinnick. Sports Journalists who have been on ground have refused to tell the administrators the bitter truth they would not want to hear  "he who plays the pipe, dictates the tune". In as much as they continue to rely on the government subversion, they rancor will continue. Am very sure that these monies they collect from the government has remained the major reasons why they have refused to push for the passage of the NFF bill in the National Assembly. I am very sure that our football if properly managed, can fed for itself. Government should provide the infrastructures, and the game manages itself. But, with the present trend where the Administrators romance with the government on monetary issues, and they would come back to say that the government should hands off, is nothing but fa! fa! foul. When person no dey eat meat , but dey take teeth divide am for children, no bi deceit? Lets put our thinking cap and advice our Administrators to do the right thing and free us from the shackles and rituals of four years.
