On the faithful day, as soon as am I stepped out of the office. I saw my lawyer friend who was suppose to drop me off at Maryland Bus Stop, so I can find my way home in Anthony Village.
As soon as I came down from the car, I noticed there was a young man coming behind me, he touched my shoulder and I turned to see who could have been so bold to touched me without thinking about how I will react him. When I finally turned to see who the person was, only to discover that it was a young gentle man on suit and tie, looking like a cool dude, he first asked after my name, profession, which area I live and I gladly told him.
On a normal day, that is not me. Somebody cant just walk up to me at night and start asking me like that, I notice there was something wrong with me that day, because I couldn’t help myself.
The young man who told me his name was Michael, asked me again which bus am I waiting for I told him without delay I was going to Anthony Bus, he said he is going the same way with me, then saw their bus coming and asked me to entered without thinking twice. From there he continue to chat with me, we were chatting like close pals. I notice some thing, when I told him that I was a reporter, his mood changed.
Then I notice that they were not following the right way, I told the driver and he responded that he is taking that road because of the traffic, so I kept quite and Mike was even begging me not to worry, we will get to our destination.
So the bus was took through Police College road, then suddenly the driver stopped on that road and ordered me to come down, I was like what is happening here, the guy chatting with me now change his tone and controlled me to enter their red jeep quickly, everyone in the bus moods has change, I entered at a fast pace. I was sitting at their back this time and we were only three in the Jeep.
The guy that was driving asked me, what state am I from, I told him am from Abia State and he reply so you are our sister, then I asked Mike where does he work, he took like ten seconds before they answered me MTN at Victoria Island, then while I was in their custody, they told me to put my head down while they ask for my bag, which I gave it to Mike. They told me nicely that I should just corporate with them and they wouldn’t hurt me. Mike now told me to bring all they money in my bag for fuel, they don’t they I don’t have money, when they were about to search my bag I later told them that it is just twenty thousand I have with me.
He checked my wallet discovered I had twenty thousand naira cash in the bag, he saw my ATM when he was searching it and asked how much was in that account which I told him hundred thousand naira, they told me that I don’t have enough money self.
So that was how they drove to Maryland road, turned to Ojota Bridge linking to Ikorodu road to Maryland bridge where the BRT road is, my head was still down but I could still remember that they drove from Police college road, Isaac Jones, Country Club House, Maryland, and the next place I could remember was where they dropped at Onipanu BRT bus stop. After taking my Blackberry, one hundred and twenty thousand naira, Shoes, watch, ring, bangles and told me that they don’t want to hurt me because am their sister, that I should just get down and go.
When I got down from the dark red Jeep I discovered that I couldn’t shout or cry very well maybe because I have been with them for one hour, when I cross to the other side of the road, that was when I try to screen that I was just robbed by the guys that dropped me off, the passerby were all amazed, one response that we thought they guys were your friends or even colleague, when I try to cry, but there was nothing in my eyes. One of them wanted to follow them, but they have gone far, since there was no police around and they people couldn’t be of help, I just walked out of their midst to look for a way to get home.
When I entered a bus going to Anthony Village, as I sat in the bus. A guy asked me what the problem was because tears were rolling down my eyes slowly, I couldn’t speak out. When I manage to answer the guy that I was just robbed at Ikeja and they dropped me at Onipanu. One old woman told me that I should just thank God for saving my live that I will get everything, they have stolen from me. That an incident happened recently, two friends entered one change bus and the guys in the bus cut off the head of the older lady while they told the other girl that she was too young so they dumped the body on the road and the other girls, since then the girl is not normal again ,because of the trauma.
When I got home that day, I was so restless, crying, shouting all over the place, when my friend came into my room she asked me what the matter was ,then I told her. She told me to thank God for live, it is not time to cry. That night was the most terrifying night to me, because I could sleep. I was trying to imagine how everything happened and wish I could turned back the hands of time.
