NATIONAL ART COMPETITION 2012 PRESS CONFERENCE.

African Artists' Foundation/NIGERIAN BREWERIES NATIONAL
ART COMPETITION 2012 held a press conference recently at their office 54, Raymond
Njoku Street Ikoyi.
Special guests of honor were Uche Uzorka- 1st place winner NAC
2011,Azubuike Nwagbogu- Director, African Artists' Foundation, Peter Vlam-
Media and Partnership Adviser, AAF,Zainab Ashadu- Curator, AAF,Edem Vindah- PR
Manager, Nigerian Breweries.
Azu told press men during the press conference that AAF/NBP
that this year is
the fifth edition of
the annual National Art Competition entitled ‘Consequences.’ following on from
2011’s edition which witnessed a shift in focus from completed works to a
method coined ‘Process To Product’, this year’s program aims to further develop
the creative approach by contributing to the intellectual content of artistic
thought and processes while nurturing particular, often –neglected skill sets
in the art community.
Similarly, Zainab also added that this year edition requires
interested artists to submit a written proposal expanding on their intentions
for the theme ‘’Consequences’’ and specifying their chosen medium. Once more,
all artistic genres qualify including painting, sculture, photography, mixed media,
installion and video art. Based on the submissions, the AFF selection committee
will assess all submitted entries and shortlist up to a total of 15 finalists.
She also said that Professor E I Anatsui will head the
artistic selection committee this year.Shortlisted finalists will be invited to
partake in a week –long workshop ,led by industry professionals at a retreats
in Nigeria ,it is at this time that the proposed works will be created ;all
works created at the workshop will be exhibited and rated by a panel of judges
at the Grand Finale evnt and exhibition.
The PR Manager of NB revealed at the conference that the
cash prize3rd prize#1,000,000(One million naira),2nd prize #1.500(One
point five million naira)1st prize#2.000,000(Two million naira)
He further explained that closing date for receipt of all
written proposals is 22nd June2012. he said interested person should
