TELL
ME WHO MOHAMMED JAMMAL IS?
I
am a young and talented Nigerian musician. Born into a family of 7 in Jos,
Plateau state where I lived for 18 years before relocating to the UK for my
university education where I graduated with a BA in Business Administration
from London Metropolitan Business School and a Masters Degree in Global
Management from Regents Business School. I am currently resident in Abuja. I am
a fun-loving entertainment personality and I am dedicated to putting in over 110%
to make sure my fans are always entertained.
HOW
DID YOU MAKE IT INTO THE NIGERIAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY?
My
entrance into the Nigerian Entertainment Industry started with a video I posted
on you tube where I was interacting with Kevin Pam, winner of Big Brother
Africa in Hausa and Pigeon English. Nigerians loved the video and this led to a
2nd video in which I was comparing life in London and Life in
Nigeria. An events Manager and AY the Comedian discovered me and I was asked to
perform at AY Live at London’s O2 Arena. At this event, I had the opportunity
to share the sage with most of Nigeria’s biggest comedians and musicians.
Since
then, there has been no stopping me in achieving my ultimate goal which is to
be a very popular musician despite the fact that so many Nigerians recognize me
as a comedian.
TELL
US ABOUT YOUR RECENT SHOWS, THE ONES YOU PERFORMED OR PARTICIPATED IN AS AN
ARTIST OR PRODUCER.
Just
to mention a few, I performed at Lord of the Ribs with Basket Mouth, Nigeria @
50 in Trafalgar square London, P-Square’s album launch in Lagos, Harp Rythym
Unplugged, Abuja Young Entrepreneurs awards and many AY Live shows in London,
Abuja, Lagos and Asaba. I have also successfully released 5 singles of which
two have been very popular; Taka Rawa in 2011 ft JJC and terry that Rap Man and
Dirty Wine ft Tekno just a few weeks ago which is already receiving a lot of
attention within the country and abroad.
TELL
US ABOUT YOUR PROJECTS AND WHY YOU CAME TO NIGERIA AND SHOULD WE EXPECT YOUR
OWN SHOW ANYTIME SOON?
To
be honest, I have a lot of project I am working on. I am doing the launch of my
car wash in Abuja called White Nigerian’s car wash at Monoliza Amusement park
in Area 11 which will be opened on 1st of October. All the funds
raised on the opening will go towards Meka, an Abuja based radio presenter who
is raising funds for his kidney transplant. I am also working on building the
first outdoor events center in Abuja. But in general, you will hear more of my
music. I am in Nigeria because Nigeria is my Homeland. I have enjoyed a whole
lot of support from Nigerians in the Diaspora and I hope to increase my fan
base back here in Nigeria. As for my own show, the biggest project I am working
on now is my album launch in February next year.
IF
YES, WHAT WILL THAT SHOW BE ABOUT?
All
I can say is look out for my album launch next year February!! It will be all
about me the white Nigerian.
HOW
DID YOU COME ABOUT THE NAME WHITE NIGERIAN AND HOW DID YOU MIX MUSIC, COMEDY,
ACTING AND A DJ JOB TOGETHER?
The
name ‘White Nigerian” came about when I moved to London. My friends called me
White Nigerian because it was the first time they had seen a “white boy” from
Nigeria who speaks fluent Pigeon English and Hausa Language. As for me, whether
nah black or white Nigerian e no mean anything.
While
many see me as a comedian because they find it funny that I speak pigeon
English and Hausa, I have tried to push away from it and focus on my music.
Music is my passion; it’s what I’ve always loved to do so making music in
whatever way somehow comes easy to me. However, I’m just a funny person by
nature, so I can swing into any role at any time and still be able to make people
laugh. You always like doing a few jokes on stage after I perform my songs. As
for acting, I just make videos or feature on videos because I enjoy it.
HOW
COME YOU ARE WHITE, WHAT IS YOUR STATE OF ORIGIN?
I
am white because I have white roots. Just like president Obama has black roots
but is American all the same. My state of Origin is Plateau State, Nigeria. The
Green Passport is the only Passport I hold. This country has raised me and
formed me into who I am today so there is no denying it that I am Nigerian.
Even you wey dey talk to me now know say I be confirmed Nigerian.
WHAT
IS YOUR ADVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE IN THREE YEARS
TIME?
My
advice is that they should learn to stand up for what they want, tomorrow might
be too late. Pursue your talents/skills whatever they may be and rest assured
that someone somewhere will be inspired by what you do. The internet is a
powerful tool and it is the easiest way to showcase your talent to people
around the world.
In
3 years I will want to be where god puts me. I want White Nigerian to be a
household name as far as entertainment is concerned. I also want to have more
than 50,000 followers on twitter @whitenigerian and 50,000 fans on Face Book.
