The Management of Warri Wolves has appealed to the League
Management Company to prevail on Akwa Ibom Football Association to provide
enough security for the team as they clash with Akwa United on Wednesday in
Uyo.
In a statement made available to newsmen by the Media
Manager of the Club, Etu Moses, the Management of the Warri based side said
they will not want a repeat of what happened last year, hence there is need to
really safe guard the life of the visitors.
Etu said there are reports that some hoodlums have been
talking of what happened last year and are planning to unsettle the Warri based
team as soon as they arrive Uyo for the match.
According to Etu, Akwa United came to Warri and recorded a
victory but heaven did not fall and see no reason why the situation in Uyo
should be different.
"We have it on good authority that some hoodlums are
planning to undo us and have been making reference to what happened last season
but it should not be so because after that incident, Akwa United came to Warri,
collected three points which helped them to escape relegation and heaven did
not fall. We see both clubs as brothers from south- south and so, nobody should
be allowed to spoil the relationship. To do this, the League Management Company
and the host Football Association should provide enough security. In fact, we
are going to insist on that when we get to Uyo
because we don't want to take anything for granted."
Meanwhile, the Club has intensified its
preparations to retain the State FA Cup by beating Bobbies United come Sunday
before heading to Uyo to confront Akwa United next Wednesday
