The Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWPL) has produced talents that the African continent should be proud of.
Top stars like Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Ogonna Chukwudi, Onome Ebi, Anam Imo, Osinavhi Ohale, Rita Chikwelu, Ebere Ngozi, Halimatu Ayjnde, Ngozi Okobi and Faith Michael are some of the stars in the Super Falcons that played in the NWPL before taking their skills abroad.
Football is amongst the most followed sports on social media. Ever since the social media revolution, the number of followers and interactions each team has on social media as if the field wasn’t enough, has become another ground for competition for the various teams.
Moreover, due to the omnipresence of social media, it has become extremely important for clubs to engage with fans across all major platforms, in order to gather a bigger audience to expand the brand value of the teams and eventually monetize the audience.
Clubs are starting to pay attention to the benfits of having digital footprints
Confluence Queens have emerged as the most popular NWPL club on social media after Futbalgalore.com released its list for teams on digital platforms.
The survey took into account the full cumulative number of followers clubs had on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
The Lokoja based club has 7.6k followers across its social media platforms. They are followed by FC Robo Queens who have 4.7k.
Five-time NWPL champions Rivers Angels are third with 3.7k followers.
