TELL US ABOUT WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOUR ORGANISATION STAND FOR?
Dr. Ona Ekhomu is 56, President of Association of security of Nigeria and also the chairman of trans-world. Base in Lagos with branches though out the country school of management and security.forthmost security in West African country.
Nigeria’s first chartered security professional and president of the Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operator of Nigeria (AISSON)am also the West Africa Regional Representative of the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO). CFE, CPP.
A Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Board Certified in Security Management with the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, Dr. Ekhomu was born in Irrua, Edo State on March 26 1955.Am obtained the BA (History) from Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina USA 1977. M.A (Political Science) from the Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 1979; and PhD (Public and International Affairs – Policy Management) from the University of Pittsburgh, USA 1985.Mr Ekhomu who attended the Security Officer Training Academy of Allegheny County in Pennsylvania USA (1986). He obtained the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Act 235 Lethal Weapons License in 1986.

Dr. Ekhomu is the Chairman of Trans-World Security Systems Ltd., Chairman of the School of Management and Security Limited and Chairman of Trans-World Consultants Limited. He is also Executive Director of the Dr. Ona Ekhomu Educational Foundation (DOEEF)
Dr. Ekhomu is the National President of the Global Association of Private Security Practitioners, Immediate Past Regional Vice President of ASIS International. Member of the International Review Board of the Journal of Security Education (New York, NY), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Industrial Security, Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Security and Safety of Nigeria. Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is also a member of the Academy of Security Educators & Trainers (USA), National Fire Protection Association (USA), and the International Organization of Black Security Executives (USA).
Dr. Ekhomu holds the chieftaincy titles of Fiwagboye of Ilewo (Ogun State) and Ogbeni of Irrua. He’s a biography of Who’s Who in Nigeria (2003), Corporate Nigeria Who’s Who in Business (1992). Who’s Who in Finance and Industry – USA (1987), International Youth in Achievement- USA (1981), Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges (1977). He authors a weekly column on security awareness captioned RED ALERT published in SATURDAY PUNCH newspaper.
In 2004, Dr. Ekhomu was named the Private Security Chief of the Year by the
Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria. He was the recipient of the International Day of the Family Awards 2006. In November 2007 he was awarded the Golden Star Award for Private Security (Operation) by Security Watch Africa in November 2007.
HOW YOU CAME ABOUT THE IDEA OF SECURITY
I realize many year ago that there was a serious death of knowledge in the country people don’t know more about security in the country, I decided that it was an opportunity to provide solution in that regard to ensure that people can be train properly to run security business to provide security skills and academic in the US, where I got my training, certifity as somebody that can go into the business of security profession.

He holds the Ph.D degree in Public & International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, (1985); M.A degree from Iowa State University, U.S.A (1979) and B.A. History (Summa Cum Laude), 1977 from Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina (U.S.A.) 1986
I attended the Security Officer Training Academy of Allegheny County (U.S.A.). He is the first Nigerian to be Board Certified in Security Management as he holds the prestigious Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation (No. 8851)and is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) . He holds the Pennsylvania Act 235 Lethal Weapons License and the 2nd Degree Black Belt in karate also a member of American Society for Industrial Security, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Security and Safety Associations of Nigeria, Academy of Security Educators and Trainers, (U.S.A.), Police Marksman Association (U.S.A.), National Association of Chiefs of Police (U.S.A.), Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (U.S.A.), and International Foundation of Protection Officers, (U.S.A.).

WHAT ARE CHALLENGES IN THE INDUSTRY?
It’s been busy, good and quit challenges, some time people don’t know what you are talking about and where you are coming from when you talk about security, some think see security thing is best experience than planning for people usually known on their doors ,somebody will built a beautiful house yet, they don’t worry to put security personnel or anti –personnel barrel in the house.
When the follow comes back from work ,he will drive and park in front of their house, then come out and open their gate, because they have no security officer.In Nigeria insecurity is something most people wants to experience,before they think about solution,until people have an experience with robber that is when they will think about security.Nigerian will started shouting police,army,air force,doing everything at the same time and usually as a reactive people.
People don’t use a prodent man approach in security,you don’t look at live and say life is a risk,what are the security risk and how can this risk impact on this people what can I do ahead of time before anything happens to minimize those risk, they don’t think in those items. They will go and pay million, when they kidnapped their kids, then later that they will none will all the children oversee, they will not enjoy the love and company of their children because you have send everybody overseas, they children will start training themselves up, when they come out wrong tomorrow, they will be saying ‘’children of now a day are don’t have respect and lack home training. This people should ask themselves that questions, what is the reason why they cant protect their families, instant they choice to send them abroad;London,America,Benin Republic etc.The other challenges is that anybody can just awake any time to setup a security company without any former training, anybody can just do it in Nigeria. Nigerian have all kind of people, we foreigners, Nigerian don’t even know who have to be in the industry, there is no mechanism to monitor what they are doing. We have civil defence,that have authority to do that check, while some do the monitor quarterly, there is nothing that happen that add value to our system still there is still corruption and violent every now and then.
COMMENT ON THE LAST ELECTION?
During the election there were report of violent from different state, ballot box snatching and all that. But it was not on large scale, like the previous one.Specially,Kaduna and Delta State, every bombing during the last day before the election there were national bombing ,during presidential election they throw about three bomb at police officer, they had to them so you know .we have bombing in Kaduna former one at the Abuja center.
Police saw their destiny in their hands during the polling to creditable election and so they way the police handle the election, salute them effect.
WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE POLICE FORCE ARE YOU SATISTY AND WHY IS THE FORCE SO CORRUPT?
The security in Nigerian is not satisfactory; everyone knows that, a lot need to be done, kidnapping, ritual murder, robbery, bombing and the rest that is the most painful things of the violent because bombing doesn’t select the person he want to kill .bombing don’t choice victims ,the other does .On independence day bomb blast in Abuja,Jos on charismas eva,Abuja bomb blast is INEC office in Sulaja Niger State, nobody can be satistfy.Mr President has come out to comment on those violent, when the presidential election was announce ,that single act cause another violent in the Kaduna and most of the CPC Northern state and people were killed a lot including the Youth Corps members who are serving their nations, that is unacceptable ,what happen show that the Authority of the state is not doing his job properly.
HOW CAN YOU RATE OUR POLICE FORCE IN NIGERIA?
Nigerian police force is the best in the all world, among the world peace keeping Nigeria is the best, but when this people come back to the country their mentality changes. If you know what is happening in the country, you find out that police don’t have good house,car,good salary, they don’t have facilities to run operations, they don’t have radio set to communication with their colleague ,some of them are carrying tear gas gun in parrot duries,because there is no gun, even when they give them guns there will be very few bullets, six bullets,sometimes,they buy the bullet themselves ,then what do you expect from sure a person to do, they have to go to Jesus Christ to give them some miracles. If we want our police to work we should give them tools to work to be policing. In the US peace keeping they are not struggling to do anything, they are given accommodation, car, better pay, everything, so all that is expected of them is to do the job and they will do the very well. So I will rate the Nigerian police’’ A 1’’ because I have seen police force all over and I have all attended the police collegue, Nigerian police are corrupt because they are hungry, there is poverty in the land, if you are a police man in Chicago and you are corrupt your mate will hunt you down, they will get facts for ten year, they will get you and put you in jail. But in Nigerian in the political executive are corrupt why would the police be, if who ever is in high offices can be corrupt. Intention to collect the money, he has not collect it ,he has been throw out of office and he is facing criminal persecution, if at the Olympian level, in Nigerian if you go to jail, they will give them pardon ,so that they can go and run for public office again, that is the greatest corruption in power. What do you think corruption means Dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.
The action of making someone or something morally depraved or the state for a personal interest. Nigerian is place where one body will kill somebody and they will promote him,someone human right has been abused,someone in the authority will call and say the person should be release,you that said the person should be jailed along side with the person that commited the crime,our system there is very funny,so liltte power they claim to be God ,they cannot be touched ,questions,when you have sure corrupted people what do you expect from the rest,is it the police man that does not have fifty naira to cover his beat,of cause he will collect bribe .What do we expect from a country where the top people are so corrupt,in China where something like that happens that gather them and kill them,because them are causing the death of so many people by their corrupt but in Nigerian is the opposite.Some Nigerian was release after seveing his team,they went to give thanks in Church and a big celebration in the street of lagos ,because one thief was let out of the prison,what kind of nonsense is that somebody should avoid for cause a lot of damaged to the country,even uniform police men around him that is abuse of power in the exctreme,even the former head of state I use to respect was there ,that s a shame.Even see somebody talk on television those people should not talk ,people in the media you encourage them by giving them the mic to talk,what do they have to say,they should talk about their prison experience in a book not come and make public comment,what kind of nonsense is that when there are one hunded million free Nigerian that have not been in jail go and be talking to a jail bird.Journalist are part of it because they will give you envelope .
My vision is to train more security personnel and make live safe and heaven on earth.We are aready spreading the gospel of security all manner of security go through our training located Lagos,we are very happy with the report we are getting from people ,we are happy that most of student are head of department of security ,is becoming a standard now .
