CRIME Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), the national body of investigative reporters from the print and electronic media in the country holds her annual lecture and award ceremony on the 3rd of November 2011.The event was hold at Event Centre, plot 1 block B Hakeem Balogun Street Opposite African Shrine, Ikeja Lagos State.
President of the association, Mr Christopher Oji said notable security experts and distinguished persons was there at the occasion to the honored by CDAN
Oji said that the annual event was organized to create a forum for stakeholders in the Nigeria Security Field to brainstorm on the security issues in the country and proffer necessary solutions.
he conclued by saying that the CRAN are readiness to help in the enthronment of a crime-free society.
The security expert and chairman of Techno crime Security Company, Mr.Anthony Azuya will speak on the theme" How Private Security Practitioners can assist in the curbing
insecurity in Nigeria" while notable security experts including Olumide Wole Madariola and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Yakubu Alkali would also be part of the attempt to find a lasting solution to insecurity in the country.
He said the private security companies in Nigeria are created to render some security related functions that do not required the strict,compulsory use of fire arms.
he concluded by saying that how best the private security sector can assist government in checking the current BOKO HARAM scourge,kidnapping,armed robbery and other sundry criminal activities.What we require is a combination of effort by both the state security agencies and the private security practitioners as each may not have what the other has.
Nigeria should be alert and never leave the job of protecting lives and property around us to only state security agents or private security practitioners.Every body should be his brothers keep even as God is the ultimate security guard on all of us.
The inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, Hafiz Ringim will be the guest of Honour at the event while Governor Babatunde Fashola is the Special Guest of Honour.
