Here I am on the red carpet with Ngozi Anene, one of the eminent panelists at Bethphage's event tagged "Online Hate Speech: Can Social Media Reduce Its Spread?"
She is a communications and creative development specialist with several years of experience in communications, brand and image management, PR and creative content development, corporate affairs and social media strategy. Her career spans working with several blue chip international companies, which include Air France as Marketing Communications Manager (Nigeria) and Nokia West Africa as Communications Manager for West Africa. She has also worked at Microsoft as PR and Communications Lead for Anglophone West Africa where she won awards for her initiatives in social media and content development. She was also Head of Communications for Guinness Nigeria and later Head, Marketing Communications at Accion Microfinance Bank. She is presently the Executive Director of the HS Media Group.
Ngozi Anene also majored in Sociolinguistics which by examining cultural norms, expectation and context, brings into view the effects of language use on society. This knowledge and indeed her treasure trove of wisdom is indeed helping us put in perspective the impact that hate speech has had and can have on Nigeria.
