Northern Nigeria Rugby Football Association Elects New Coordinator

After a keenly contested election at the Annual General Assembly of the Northern Nigeria Rugby Football Association which took place at the NNRFA head quarters in Kaduna on the 18th of March 2017, Richard Abrakson emerged as the Coordinator of the association after defeating Umar Bawu by one vote to claim the position from Abdullahi Muhammed who voluntary stepped down after his tenure,   Abubakar Yaro was elected as the secretary unopposed while Eusebius Yayock retained his appointment as the Technical Director following a reappointment motion moved by The representative of Plateau State Sir Edward Fom who is also currently the president of the NRFF.

Col. Ibrahim Biu who is the Chairman of the Kaduna State Rugby Association was appointed as the NNRFA Grand Patron at the event which was presented  by twelve northern rugby clubs.

 

Speaking with the newly elected Coordinator of the association Richard Abrakson, he acknowledge the good job of his predecessor and mentioned that he will continue from where he stopped to ensure that northern rugby being the oldest will continue to set good precedent for the sport in Nigeria, he also commended the recent board of the NRFF for their impressive performance most especially for initiating and staging the 2017 edition of the Super Cup in the north for the first time.

Also speaking with the retained technical director of the association Eusebius Yayock who expressed gratitude on his reappointment, he stated that he will continue to ensure that the activities of the northern clubs are well documented and technically organized in order to meet the standard of the NRFF, he also used the medium to clarify his letter to the federation at the just concluded NRFF congress in Lagos saying ‘I would like to make a clear disclaimer from a notion going round, that I was working for some interest person or group. What I said was my personal opinion, with no prejudice against the NRFF or its leadership. For whatever reason certain persons choice to take advantage of my comments for cheap publicity or ill motive, I hereby state that I was acting on my own and my intentions has always been for good, passion and development of the game of rugby in Nigeria. My Apology goes to the Federation/Leadership of NRFF if my comments were taking wrongly’.
