PRESSURE IS ON US SAYS ANGELS---- TEAM MANAGER

Team Manager of Rivers Angels, Matilda Otuene says her side is under a little bit of pressure as they begin the defence of their Aiteo Cup title against Delta Babes on Wednesday at the Yakubu Gowon stadium, Port Harcourt.

With the oldest cup competition having a new sponsor and mouthwatering prize money for the women's competition, Otuene believes it will be an uphill task for her girls.

That notwithstanding, the Rivers Angels boss is optimistic her wards will cope with the pressure and put in a good performance against their first Aiteo Cup opponent, Delta Babes on Wednesday.

“You know every team that wants to play Rivers Angels doesn’t take it lightly so I know it won’t be an easy game from our previous experience,” said Otuene.

“But I expect my players to absorb all pressures and go out there to deliver,” she added.

The Rivers Angels boss equally expressed her confidence on the technical department of the team to exhibit  their brilliance as they’ll be coming up against a team that is not quite known to them.

“This cup competition is one that you can never predict the outcome but we are not leaving any stone unturned,” Otuene said.

“We don’t really know much about the opponents but I believe the technical crew are competent enough to study the game in the first ten minutes.

“So I believe the girls are ready to deliver come Wednesday,” she added.

Otuene also urged residents of Port Harcourt to come all out to support the team as they file out against Delta Babes.

“For a while now they’ve not seen the girls play so I want to call on all our sports loving fans to come out and watch the beautiful game of women football,” summed Otuene.

The Jewel of Rivers beat Bayelsa Queens 5-3 on penalties to win the oldest cup competition for the 6th time last season and is now gunning for her 7thcup title.

Kickoff time is 4pm
