KWARA UNITED AND THE LESSONS

Four years ago, Kwara United under the tutelage of Coach Samson Unuanel were relegated from the NPFL despite picking 14 points away from home.

That year's winners Kano Pillars were only able to pick seven points away. Meanwhile, the last three teams that have won the NPFL title (Enyimba, Rangers and Plateau United) were teams with the best away records.

MFM qualified for the continent this year after a brilliant home campaign that saw them win all their home matches bar two draws against Akwa United and Enyimba.

Three Muslims were also in MFM's team despite being a church owned-team

With Kwara United securing promotion to the top flight league, it would be a huge blow if they end up with the same situation/mistakes next season as they also got relegated in 2015 immediately after securing promotion.

*MOVING FORWARD*
First and foremost, the team has to priortise what they want next season; remaining in the league, finishing in the top 10 or qualifying for the continent.

Kudos to the management of the team led by Prince Thompson Oladimeji who has done well to give the technical crew all necessary support needed to return the team to the NPFL. I advise them to retain the technical crew and give head Coach John Obuh the free role to do his job, forget ethnicity in their transfer recruitment/dealings and the fans should be at their best behaviour.

Making the Kwara State stadium their fortress should be part of the primary objectives, while having a depth in squad is essential. I hope they have learnt from their lessons.

Time for Kwara United FC to start planning for life in the NPFL.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is one of the most competitive and unpredictable leagues in the world.

The top four teams from last season struggled to remain in the league this year, while teams that defied the odds to beat the drop last season occupy the top positions this term.
