2013 Proprietors' Cup holds amidst glitz and glamour‏

·

With the aim of discovering young and skillful footballers to keep the Nigerian football team afloat, the maiden edition of the Proprietors' Cup, organized by Ornibod Sports Services, in association with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) recently held amidst glamour at Agege Stadium, Lagos.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the auspicious sports event among students of private schools in Nigeria, the NAPPS president, F. A. Otubela noted thus: "The football match is the outcome of the desire to inject into the students of private schools the spirit of sportsmanship and competition. As interactive as it is, it will open up a new vista for the private schools and metamorphose into something big in the nation's sports sector."

Welcoming sports lovers to the opening ceremony of the football competition, the main organiser and financier of the highly embraced initiative, Mrs. Adenike Onile-Ere who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Ornibod  Sports Services avowed that the annual event will help in discovering skillful players and help them towards fulfilling their sports dreams.

She added that "For many years, my football academy has been poised with the challenges of discovering skillful players among Nigerian youths. Most times, especially outside the shore of Nigeria, players are being rejected because of falsifications of their ages. You see a man of about 30 years old claiming to be 17 years old. So the only means to catch them young is to go through the primary and secondary schools, and that is exactly what I am doing, with private schools in Nigeria," Onile-Ere disclosed.

Students expressed  it was fun and a fulfilling moment for us, as they slugged it out among themselves, to the admiration and cheering of sports lovers, including the Lagos state commissioner for sports, Mr. Enitan Oshodi, who was ably represented.
